Hey bloggers,
This is my Summer Learning journey No.2 Insect Art! To start with I watched a video about an artist named Raku Inoue. He makes amazing insect art out of things he finds in his garden and other gardens.
I made a butterfly and with all the white and pink petals from the roses and a variety of summer flowers from our garden.
My insect has a green body and lots of pink. This is because they are summer colours in my opinion. The reason I called it the Pavlova Butterfly is because the white reminds me of the cream and the pink also reminds me of strawberrys on a pavlova!
If you had to make a Insect from flowers what types would you use?
See ya later!
Kia ora Amelia,
ReplyDeleteWow! Your Pavlova Butterfly blew me away. It is so beautifully created and I thought your explanation on what you used and why you used them was outstanding. I can make a really clear connection between the colours and the colour of a pavlova.
Do you know I actually don't like Pavlova? Shocking isn't it, as it is a main stay of most Christmas dinners. My favourite Christmas dessert is actually trifle and I have my grandmothers trifle bowl that she always used at Christmas time. It makes me think of her when I see it.
For some reason your blog has a lot of white space after the writing. Not sure why, but you may want to pop in to the edit side of things and see if you can remove some of it.
Great job on your wonderful creation Amelia. And great SLJ work!
Keep up the great learning and blogging,

Hi Sharon,
DeleteThanks for commenting on my blog. I don't really like Pavlova either but my fave dessert is cake in a mug!
I have just edited my post and taken that space out.
From Amelia.
Hey Amelia,
ReplyDeleteI’m Daniel from the SLJ Blog commenting team. I’m looking forward to seeing all your amazing blog posts and I hope you’re enjoying your summer.
Your artwork is beautiful, I love the colours and choice of flower petals. I agree these are great summer colours. I like the explanation you’ve included and the name suits your creation well, now I’m hungry for pavlova. We always have pavlova for Christmas but pretty much no other time so Pavlova reminds me of Christmas and summer too.
Great question, we have a lot of flowers around my house but they are all little ones so I couldn’t use really big designs but I would try to use as many of the colours I had.
Great work Amelia,
See you later in the comments.
Daniel
Sup Daniel,

Malo e lelei Amelia, My name is Deborah from Glen Innes School, WOW !,such an amazing creature you have chosen to make, Why did you chose to make a pavlova butterfly?
ReplyDeleteHey Deborah,
DeleteThanks for commenting! I have no idea why I chose to make a butterfly but i just thought it would be fun!
Blog ya later;)
Kia ora Amelia,
ReplyDeleteI'm Whaea Vicki and I created this activity for the Summer Learning Journey. I love the description that you have given about your butterfly, I can see that you were really thinking about the petals you used. Although I can't believe you and Sharon don't like pavlova! Cake it a mug sounds delicious though :)
I have lots of big hydrangeas in bloom at my house at the moment, so am sure I'd use those if I was crating an insect. Do you know what type of plant your pavlova butterfly would like to land on?
From Whaea Vicki
Hey Whaea Vicki,
DeleteThank you for the nice comment. Yes, I know pavlova's look yum but when I taste the they taste a bit strange. We have hydrangeas too and they are getting quite big. I would want it to land on a Margret merrel rose becuase they look a bit like pavlovas:)
Thanks again
Amelia:)
